Featuring Poco Loco! 2-3 pm, Sunday Jan 10 @ The Art Museum in Eden Park. Play it Forward Presents a Night of Guitar and Percussion @ The Blue Wisp Jan 10 Featuring Toca Madera, Viaje and Chico Futuracho Toca Madera is a duo comprised of Nick Tuttle on guitar and Liz Wu on percussion. Together, they perform music of Spain and Latin America, from Flamenco-style ballads (ala the Gypsy Kings) to Cuban Sons (ala the Buena Vista Social Club). Their music combines soulful singing with haunting melodies, layered over flowing rhythms evocative of far away lands and distant times. Viaje is a project led by Sylvain Acher, incorporating hints of Gypsy Jazz and French chansons. His compositions are whimsical and delightful. Chico Futuracho is a musical movement headed by Jacob Rathburn Hundley. A fusion of Jazz, Flamenco and Pop, his original works are fun, catchy and sometimes bizarre - but always entertaining. 7-11 pm (doors @ 6:30) at The Blue Wisp, 318 E 8th St. $5-10 suggested donation. It's an extraordinary story: Burgling Watergate may have been Frank's easiest assignment. Using over 30 aliases he trained guerillas in 12 countries on 3 continents, took part in assassination plots and the overthrow of 7 governments. He was a spy and counterspy for the CIA. He fought with Che Guevera and Fidel and against them. He was Castro's casino czar, he knew mob bosses. He helped plan and took part in the Bay of Pigs invasion. He plotted to ransom the USS Pueblo and trade places with the Iran hostages. At 17, he was a decorated member of the famed 1st marine Edson's Raiders and at 37 a suspect in JFK's assassination.
