Volunteer for World Music Fest!

World Music Fest is an annual event featuring music and art from around the globe – a celebration of culture and diversity. Through the universal language of music and art, this annual event builds bridges within the community, provides a platform for excellent local musicians and artists, and shows that there is a whole world within the place that we call home.

This is the 3rd year of the festival and it is growing quickly - we need your help NOW! The festival is set to involve around 300 performers at seven venues in Covington, Kentucky the weekend of Oct. 16-18 and attract approximately 5,000 people.

The participating venues are: Leapin Lizard, Covington Artisans Enterprise Center, The Avenue, MarX Gallery, Step-N-Out Studio, Baker Hunt and Madison Theater. The event will incorporate multiple arts disciplines, including music, dance, visual art, theater/storytelling and involve educational programming for both children and adults.

Each venue has a theme: Baker Hunt will have a European theme and involve a French-style dinner on the 16th and a Continental Breakfast on the 17th. MarX Gallery will host a Kids Zone of story-telling, henna workshops and an exhibit of art made by children. Step-N-Out Studio will showcase local dance ensembles. The Avenue will be the place for Caribbean Reggae and Salsa bands. The Covington Artisans Enterprise Center will feature Asian art and music, with tea by Essencha. Leapin Lizard will be a Bazaar full of vendors and Middle Eastern music. Madison Theater will be the location of the headliner bands. Many different cultures and art forms will be represented.

World Music Fest is organized by the 501c3 nonprofit organization Play it Forward; volunteers can claim community service hours.

Volunteers are needed in the following areas:

1. Fundraising: Throw a bake sale or host a raffle - this will help us to bring in even more exciting bands and performers!

2. Street team: We need lots of help putting up posters and handing out flyers.

3. Onsite volunteers: We will need people to help out on the day of the event with decorating, collecting donations, etc.

4. Publicity: If you have skills in marketing or writing, we need folks to help update our info on local calendars and get the word out to new audiences.

5. Create a buzz: Please spread the word about the festival, plan to come, and invite all your friends and colleagues!
