Music Now presents Toumani Diabate live at the Zoo - Sunday, June 21  Toumani Diabate is a master kora player (21-string traditional African Harp) from Mali who has performed with many acclaimed artists such as Bela Fleck, Roswell Rudd, Taj Mahal and Bjork. Most recently he released the critically acclaimed, The Mandè Variations. You can hear this amazing artist live on Father's Day, 7pm June 21 at the Cincinnati Zoo. Tickets are $6-12. Open to members only, but joining the group is free! The evening will start off with refreshments (everyone brings a snack or beverage) and then continues with a fun presentation on Ayurveda and a Life Coaching session. Henry Farny Park Dedication Saturday, June 27  This park, three years in the making, celebrates the life and work of renowned artist Henry Farny, who lived from 1890-1907 in Covington, KY. The park features contemporary art by David Rice. Party at the kickoff like it's 1899! Henry Farny is rumored to be there, as well as other surprises. Also, there will be free pizza from noon-1 pm! The event goes from noon-2 with the dedication at 1 on Sat. June 27. Yard Sale for the troops July 17-18 The American Legion Post 203 is holding a huge yard sale July 17 & 18 at the post. The are looking for items to be donated to sell at the sale. It is a great time to clear out that clutter and do some good. If you have oversized items they would even be willing to come pick them up. The legion sends many care packages to our troops, and these packages mean a lot to the recipients. Donated items can be dropped off at the Legion the phone number there is 859 291-8834. Nothing you want to get rid of, then think about stopping by and finding a treasure or two. Two local celebrities (from the #1 Superbowl Commercial "Free Doritos") have created a comedy/variety show they're calling The Recession Proof Comedy Show. It's going to feature stand up comedy, sketch comedy, improv comedy, magic, music, video and more. They are looking for special musical guests, kind of like Saturday Night Live ... Featured musical guests will perform a song during the show, and can perform a set after the comedy show ends. Each week will be a different show at Monmouth Theater in Newport, KY. Different stand ups, sketches, musical guests, etc. This theater has great acoustics and seats 80 people or so with tables so it's quaint as well. After a final parade of all contestants, judges will choose the winners. Play it Forward, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, is seeking volunteers to work the beverage booth during the World Wide Wednesday series at Fountain Square. The job entails serving beverages from approximately 6-9 p.m. on Wednesdays with tips benefiting Play it Forward. Many dates are available, from May 27-Sept. 9.
