Chinese Classical Music and Dance on Fountain Square Wednesday 7-9 p.m.

This week's World Wide Wednesday features classical Chinese music and dance on Fountain Square from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, June 3.

Each World Wide Wednesday concert goes from 7-9 from May 27-Sept 9 and is free to the public. Bring a little cash for concessions and CDs, which artists will have on sale. Please also remember to tip the beverage servers, as tips raised will benefit the 501c3 nonprofit organization Play it Forward, to support local musicians in need.

Jump N Jive Swing Band at the Blue Wisp 

There is a great new nonprofit in town, called the Cincinnati Music Foundation (aka Jump N' Jive Show Band) which performs in order to raise money for instruments for kids. They are having a fundraiser from 7:30 p.m. - 11:30 on Sunday, June 14 at the Blue Wisp Jazz Club, 318 E 8th St. Downtown. It's a 17-piece swing band, with several guest singers ... they put on a great show! Admission is a donation of $10. Please come out and show your support! The Jump N' Jive Showband is a 17-piece swing band comprised of professional musicians who dedicate their time to playing for charitable causes. They are a nonprofit organization whose mission is to raise donations of instruments and funds in order to provide musical instruments to middle and high school students who can not afford to purchase them.

Their music is upbeat, dynamic and exciting - they perform Big Band Swing classics that will make you want to dance! The band is available for parties, special events, festivals and educational programming.

Yard Sale for the troops July 17-18

The American Legion Post 203 is holding a huge yard sale July 17 & 18 at the post. The are looking for items to be donated to sell at the sale. It is a great time to clear out that clutter and do some good. If you have oversized items they would even be willing to come pick them up.

The legion sends many care packages to our troops, and these packages mean a lot to the recipients. 

Donated items can be dropped off at the Legion the phone number there is 859 291-8834. Nothing you want to get rid of, then think about stopping by and finding a treasure or two. They are located close to Value City in Latonia, at 3801 Winston Ave Covington KY 41015.

In the words of local Jazz organization Jazz Alive, Triage is a contemporary jazz ensemble featuring Eugene Goss on vocals and percussion, Billy Larkin keyboards and piano and Randy Winters on drums. After more than 20 years of playing together, Eugene and Billy have developed that special chemistry that can be counted on to produce an original eclectic performance whether playing their own compositions, arranging George Gershwin, channeling Antonio Carlos Jobim or interpreting Stevie Wonder.

Goss won the Cammy Award (Cincinnati music awards) for best jazz vocalist in 2002; Larkin won the Cammy for best jazz instrumentalist in 2003. The group received the "Best of The City" award from CityBeat in 2005 for Entertainment and Music!

You can see them this Thursday, June 4, at The Comet in Northside from 8:30 p.m. - 12:30 a.m. Free.

World Music concert series on Fountain Square May 27-Sept 9

Do you like listening to great music and helping people at the same time? Play it Forward, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, is seeking volunteers to work the beverage booth during the World Wide Wednesday series at Fountain Square. The job entails serving beverages from approximately 6-9 p.m. on Wednesdays with tips benefiting Play it Forward. Many dates are available, from May 27-Sept. 9. You can enjoy a live concert of international music and help a charity at the same time! Must be 21 or over.
